Our Story

Artie Rawls began with an interest in art and helping people. Originally from Hattiesburg, MS, he lived in Jackson for 7 years, 8 years in Reno, NV, and 7 years in Phoenix, AZ. He attended Arizona State University for 2 years studying art and architecture and returned to Hattiesburg where he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1978 with a degree in Photojournalism and minor in Art.

Rawls worked at Forrest General Hospital Marketing Department as the in-house photographer and videographer for 10 years. While at the hospital he attended many national photography conventions through the Professional Photographers of America and developed Artie Rawls Photography. In 1997, he resigned from the hospital and continued to be self employed until this day.

Always evolving as a photographer, he has received the following awards: 1977 SDX Grand Prize Winner, Parade Magazine Finalist 1991 top 60 of 230,000 entries, Mississippi Photographer of the Year 2007, as well as many others. He attends many state and national photography seminars and conventions to stay current in the rapidly changing world of photography.
